Ready to run your own café? The MVCC (Council) is currently on the lookout for individuals or businesses interested in operating a café and providing catering services at the Djerring Flemington Hub (DFH). This is your chance to be part of a vibrant community space!
Published on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, this announcement marks the opening of Expressions of Interest (EOI). The Council is eager to explore the market and understand the various solutions available for this exciting venture.
The DFH, a bustling Community Centre located at 25 Mount Alexander Road, Flemington, first opened its doors in September 2023. It's a place where the local community can connect, attend programs, and simply enjoy each other's company. The hub boasts a welcoming shopfront café on the ground floor, perfect for serving up delicious treats and beverages. And this is the part most people miss... a well-equipped commercial kitchen is conveniently located on level one, providing all the necessary facilities for catering services.
The opportunity involves entering into a license agreement with the Council to operate the café and catering services. This EOI process could be the first step in a multi-stage selection process.
But here's where it gets controversial... it's important to note that this invitation is not a formal offer. Instead, it's a request for potential operators to submit their proposals. Nothing in this invitation creates any binding contract between the Council and any interested party.
If you're interested in taking on this exciting opportunity, be sure to submit your proposal to crice@mvcc.vic.gov.au by the close of business on Friday, January 30, 2026.
The Council reserves the right to vary, extend, or even terminate the EOI process at any time. What do you think about this process? Do you think this is a fair approach, or could there be improvements? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
